DBT Star Status College Scheme to Seven Departments

College got coveted Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funding under Star College program in 2018-19. Several interdisciplinary projects have been initiated under it.

DBT is supporting seven departments (Biomedical Science, Botany, Chemistry, Electronics, Physics, Zoology and Computer Science) of the College. Under ‘Strengthening component of the Star College Scheme’ DBT is providing one time grant of Rs. 5.00 lakhs for each department and Rs. 2.00 lakhs per department under recurring head for a period of 3 years.

The Scheme offers young scholars and faculty at UG level an opportunity to excel their career in Sciences. The program emphasizes holistic improvement of science education at undergraduate level with special emphasis on practical training. The initiative provides support for:

  • Improving knowledge and skills of teachers in basic Sciences and specialized techniques.
  • Access to specialized infrastructure to students.
  • Assurance of consumables, reagents and chemicals for students.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in designing and conducting practical Bio-technologies and critical thinking.
  • Access to knowledge banks with strong support of books and journals including e-journal facilities.
