Undergraduate and Advanced Research

Since the inception of the course, great emphasis has been given on undergraduate research with an aim to provide hands on training, encourage creative and analytical thinking and give an opportunity to make an informed choice about a career in research. Short-term research projects are taken under the supervision of scientists from reputed research institutes and universities and/or with mentorship from the faculty members of the Department. The research training not only gives students a prospect to learn modern techniques and become aware of fundamental and contemporary problems in Science, but the experience has been found to be transformative with gain in personal skills. Students have participated in projects funded by DBT, CSIR-Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD), DST-Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC), projects under the aegis of DBT Star Scheme, DU Innovation Project and ELITE fellowship scheme of the college. Our students have also earned highly competitive fellowships such as KVPY, JNCASR, IAS among others. Students get various opportunities to participate in national and international level workshops/seminars/ conferences and present their research work too.

For advanced research, funding has been received from OSDD, TATA CSIR-OSDD, DST-SERB, ICMR. Following is the list of completed and ongoing research projects. Projects numbered 1-16 have been completed and 17 and 18 are ongoing.
